Report of the Committee of Review, Landlord and Tenant (Consolidation) Ordinance
Purpose
To consider the recommendations in the Committee's Report and the extent and timing of their adoption.
Progress Made & Present Position
(a) Abolition of the Tenancy Tribunal (a)
(b)
and transfer to the Lands Tribunal of its jurisdiction in respect of pre-war buildings was effected in June 1982,
The Lands Tribunal (Amendment) Ordinance, enabling the transfer of jurisdiction in respect of post-war domestic premises from the Tistrict Court to the Lands Tribunal was enacted in July1982.
Next Quarter's Target
(b) To bring outstanding
provisions of the Landlord & Tenant (Consolidation) (Amendment) (No. 2) Ordinance 1981 into effect on 1st
October 1982.
(c) It has been decided that non-
urgent technical amendments to the legislation should await the general policy review in early 1983.
(a) By resolution in May 1982, LegCo
approved increases in the permitted rents for pre-war premises to take effect "from 1st July 1982.
