Overseas Recruitment
12.
During the report period, 689 vacancies within
the purview of the Public Service Commission were advertised
locally, and on 31 July 1982, 316 posts were under recruitment
overseas. During the same period, 80 newly appointed officers (including 23 Police Inspectors) assumed duty from overseas.
13.
Although the quartering situation has improved sign- ificantly, the administrative limit which has been imposed
since April 1982, whereby only 20 newly recruited overseas
officers are allowed to arrive in Hong Kong each month, has been maintained to facilitate planning for the provision of quarters and also in view of the need to control the
