Replacement Airport
To seek to revive the review of the Agreement in general and the Regional Routes Confidential Memorandum of Understanding in
particular.
To consider whether an international air- port to replace Kai Tak should be con- structed.
XCo, having been consulted on 8 June, advised against adopting any course of action which might lead to confrontation with CAAC, and recommended that the offer of further consultations should be taken up. HMG was then advised of the HKG view. DOT have invited CAAC to resume discussions in London at the end of October. CAAC's response is still awaited.

The airport master plan, together with meteorological, fauna, flora and marine environment studies
have continued satisfactorily.
At the third joint working session
(between the replace- ment airport con- sultants and Govern- ment officials) held at the end of May, a revised programme of studies was adopted, the civil engineering design studies' pro- posals were endorsed, and the master plan- ners were instructed to proceed with cost formulation.
In conjunction with FCO and DoT, to
determine overall British strategy.
To ensure that these studies continue satisfactorily.
To ensure that there is coordination between the related studies on the formulation of costs.
