Links with China
To oversee the develop- ment of passenger ferry services to China.
PM/ST has been asked to seek funds to construct a temporary pier in Sha Tin for ferry services to the Mirs Bay resorts. Ferries services to 6 Chinese ports are in operation.
To monitor the progress of temporary pier facilities at Sha Tin and to explore other marine links with China.
6. Heung Yee Kuk
(a) To maintain close
liaison with the Heung Yee Kuk and to consult the Kuk on import- ant matters
affecting NT villagers.
(b) Election of new
Special Councillors, Executive Committee members, chairman & Vice-chairmen.
A Joint Working Party on Land Exchange Entitlements, under the Chairmanship of Regional Secretary
(New Territories), has submitted proposals to Finance Branch to replace Letter B.
Elections were held on 13.5.82
and 27.5.82. New term commenced on 1.6.82.
To consider the legal implications of amending the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance after the
abolition of the Letter B system.
To assist the Kuk in arrangements for the inauguration of the 25th term. H.E. has
consented to officiate on 4.11.82.
7. Small House
Working Group
To carry out a joint review of the Small House Policy with the Heung Yee Kuk, Lands Department, and other interested departments.
The 4th meeting was held on 19.5.82. The Heung Yee Kuk is now considering the proposals put forward by the Working Group.
The Working Party will continue its deliberations; to participate in the Lands Department multi- disciplinary team once established, and to ensure that the team produces detailed proposals for further consideration; to involve NTDD and other departments in the working party as necessary.
