To establish at Mai Po a centre which will provide a resource for wildlife education and recreation.

The proposal was first made by the Wildlife Fund Hong Kong to the Governor. Cn HE's advice, the Executive Council of the Wildlife Fund has held meetings with SHA, SCNTA, S for Ed and S for L & W and sought Government support in respect of land and finance. S for Ed has agreed to take the lead to prepare an ExCo paper on the Government's contribution in this project.
(a) The report prepared by the Working Party on the Development of the Chinese Language Foundation has been circulated to interested branches and departments. A view on the development of the Foundation is being formulated and a draft ExCo memorandum is under preparation.
(b) Recruitment of specialist staff for the Institute of Language in Education is in progress. In the meantime, acting appointments will be arranged to enable the Institute to open on 20 September 1982. 200 teachers from Government and aided primary schools will be trained in the 1982/83 academic
year.
