Pursuant to the provisions of Section 4(3) of the
Pitcairn Order 1970, Her Majesty The Queen is pleased
to designate the officer for the time being performing
the function of the Deputy High Commissioner in
Wellington, or in his absence the officer performing
the function of Head of Chancery in the British High
Commission in Wellington, to assume and perform during
Her Majesty's pleasure the functions of the Office of
Governor, if at any time the office of Governor is
vacant or the Governor is for any other reason unable
to perform the function of his office.
This despatch replaces the one from Dr David Owen
addressed to Sir Harold Smedley KCMG MBE (HKG 400/1)
and dated 1 August 1978.
