BRITISH NATIONALITY REGULATIONS: FEES

1. I have the honour to inform you that the Home Secretary has given approval to the increase in fees and to the making of the necessary amending Regulations. The change in the amounts of the fees set out in Schedule 19 to the principal Regulations will be reproduced shortly in the Diplomatic Service Procedure, Volume 46, Annex 23. Meanwhile I enclose a copy of a Foreign and Commonwealth Office Circular which comments on the new fees, and which includes a copy of the new Schedule 19 to be brought into force from 1 Anil 1092.
2. It will be necessary to make provision locally in each Dependent Territory to charge new fees on a scale corresponding to that in Schedule 19 from 1 April or as soon thereafter as practicable.
3. This Despatch is being addressed to HM Commissioner, Anguilla to the Governors of Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands and Dependencies, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Montserrat, Pitcairn, St Helena, Turks and Caicos Islands, to Administrators Ascension and Tristan da Cunha and to the British Government Repre- sentative St Christopher and Nevis. A copy of the Despatch is being sent for information only to the British Government Representative at Bridgetown.
4. A copy of the Despatch is also being sent to the Ministry of Defence for transmission to the Administrator of the Sovereign Base Areas in Cyprus who exercises similar powers of registration and naturalisation within those Areas.
