Application to Overseas Territories

61.

Section 28 provides that any provisions of the 1965 Act may be extended, with exceptions, adaptations and modifications, to any of the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or any other territory outside

FX

the United Kingdom for the internal relations of which Her Majesty's Government are responsible.

62. Certain of the provisions of the 1965 Act have been extended to the Isle of Man (SI. 1977/429), Guernsey (SI 1978/1528) and Jersey (SI 1980/1527) as well as to a number of other territories (e.g. Gibraltar (S.I.1970/1116) and the Falkland Islands and Dependencies (S.I 1972/124)) with the modifications etc. mentioned in the

appropriate Orders.

63. The Paris Convention has been extended to all of the Home Islands. The Brussels convention has also been extended to the Isle of Man, but not to the Channel Islands. The consent of the other Contracting States to such extension (required by Article 24) has been sought and is expected to be given in due course.

64. None of the Territories to which the Act has bean extended has yet been consulted about the changes proposed to be made by this legislation. However, it is desired that it should be possible to extend the revised provisions if such consultations show that the territories in question want that.
