AMENDMENT OF THE NUCLEAR INSTALLATIONS ACT 1965: EXTENSION TO DEPENDENT TERRITORIES
1.
Please see the attached letter of 22 September from the Department of Energy concerning an amendment of the Nuclear Installations Act 1965 and the implications of Section 28
in extending the proposed amendments to the Dependent Territories.
2.
Mr Simmons (NED) in his minute (attached) lists those territories to which the Act was extended by Statutory Instrument. He adds that the proposed amendments that might
apply to Dependent Territories are Sections 12(1)(b); 17(5); 21(1) and 26(1). I can see no reason why these proposed amendments should not be extended to those territories to whom the Act was extended but I should be grateful for your comments. I am puzzled by the reference in paragraph 61 of the proposals to 'for the internal relations of which HMG are responsible'. I assume that they mean
external'.
