Miss Eleanor Sutter of the US Embassy rang to ask if she could come and discuss the overall picture of HMG's military, financial and other commitments to the Dependent Territories and also to newly independent Commonwealth countries. I said that I could not do all of this but would try to find out how she could most economically get the information. Clearly a number of departments are involved. I wonder whether you in the Planning Staff would be prepared to take this on. Would you please let me know what advice I should give Miss Sutter.
