SIR E YOUDE's SUPERANNUATION
ег
1.
Sir E Youde told me that he is now inclining towards taking the option of secondment rather than transfer to Hong Kong. He would be grateful for confirmation that if he does this it would not make any difference to the arrangement for pay, allowances, etc. He understands that Sir M MacLehose is now on secondment and that it does not make any practical difference but he needs to know for sure. Could you please tell me before Tuesday morning when Sir Edward will ring me.

He
I have spoken with Mr Easton (PSD Superannuantion). 'confirms that if Sir E Youde chooses the secondment option it would not make any difference to the arrangement for pay and allowances as these are entirely the responsibility of the Hong Kong Government.
2. Me Easton, who had spoken with Sir E Youde on the question of pensions on 29 April, added that if Sir E Youde were to go on secondment PSD would make a special arrangement whereby his Widows and Pensions Scheme contributions (1.5% of salary) could continue to be paid by Sir Edward to the FCO. Officers on transfer leave the scheme; officers on secondment continue to have the amount "deducted from salary but as the Hong Kong Government 'pay his salary direct the special arrangement mentioned above would have to be arranged.
