status and relationship with the UK not changed by the Act;

will continue to protect its interests abroad. [If asked

whether HMG would grant admission to UK of all Hong Kong

British passport holders in an emergency, as has been promised

for Falkland Islanders]: Any situation would have to be

considered on its merits but no such emergency is likely.

[If visa abolition agreements raised] Will do best to ensure

that all existing visa abolition agreements extended to Hong

Kong will continue to apply.

considering Hong Kong's suggestions.
