PQ: PRIME MINISTER'S VISITS TO DEPENDENT TERRITORIES

1. Please see your minute of 24 June.

2.

We have now received comment from all other Departments.

Legal Advisers, WIAD (Mr Herdman), SPD and SAMD have no comment.

3.

4.

ск

Emergency Unit have drawn our attention to a written reply from the Prime Minister on 21 June. This is included in your background notes.

5.

SED have commented that there is a PQ due for answer on 6 July on the question of a visit to Gibraltar. I think that this too might be included in the background notes.

6. EAD have commented on the BIOT but their comments are on the claim of sovereignty by Mauritius and not on the question of a visit by the PM and should not, I think, be included in the background note.

7. I recommend that the reply be worded as in your para.2, and the background notes as per the attachment to your minute of 24 June plus:

8.

'4. Mr Albert McQuarey MP has also tabled a question

asking whether the Prime Minister will visit Gibraltar. The reply saying that she has no plans to do so, is due to appear on 6 July.'

Background note 4 should be amended to 6.
