POST INSPECTION, FEBRUARY 1982
As requested in your letter MTX 414/1 of 11 September
I enclose herewith the material which TRED require for the preparation of briefs for the inspectors. You should already have received a copy of our completed self inspection questionnaire in respect of commercial work which was sent under cover of a compliments slip in the bag which left here on 5 October.

We have not attempted to forecast the trend of trade with China as I think you will agree that this is a matter for the commercial department of the Embassy in Peking. Nevertheless I have included some notes on the origins and organisation of the unit. It seems a pity that the pattern of inspectors' tours has been developed to the extent that inspections of Hong Kong and Peking no longer take place in the same year.
