prosecutions under the new Part VIIA; and
(b) where the Attorney General orders disclosure
under powers given him by new section 49G.
New section 49G empowers the Attorney General in certain
circumstances to order disclosure of records of confidential
information maintained by the Registry or its reporting
agencies where a crime is being investigated or prosecuted.
Subsection (2) of that new section will prevent the Attorney
General delegating this function. Failure to comply with an
order of the Attorney General is to be an offence punishable
with a fine of $5,000 and imprisonment for 6 months.

By new section 49D, it is made an offence to
disclose, or to permit access to, the records of confidential
information covered by the Bill; an offence under section
49D will, however, not be committed where disclosure is
authorized or access is permitted in accordance with
section 49E, 49F or 49G (referred to below) or in
accordance with the following exceptions

or of a reporting agency, for the purpose
of his work;
where disclosure is to a medical practitioner
for the purpose of giving medical treatment to,
or inquiring into the cause of death of, any
person; or
in a prosecution for an offence under the
new Part.
