In this connection I have been informed by several individuals, who were interviewed by members of the S.I.U., that questions put to them included questions related to the homosexuality of "frighteningly high-ranking members of the Police and Judiciary.

With my knowledge of all this intrigue going on, am I to shut my eyes to save the skins of higher officials than John MacLennan by acquiescing in what has happened? Am I to allow John HacLennan to go down in records as a criminal trying to evade justice by committing suicide ? Am I to keep quiet when I know that other honest police are sometimes intimidated into set-ups like the one I have mentioned, which are against their consciences ? It may be of interest to add that I have contacted members of the homosexual community, and learned that MacLennan was not known to be a homosexual. Therefore, what priority could there have been for his arrest on charges not strictly within the scope of the S.I.U. charter and of a very dubious nature ?

The Attorney-General says he has read all the statement' May I then ask him what he is doing about the serious allegations made in my own statement, and the statement I understand from Mr. Pelly to have been made by the Senior Inspector? Originally I tried to be fair, and proposed a hearing in camera, in order to avoid embarrassment to innocent persons, I am totally against a hush-up. Names of witnesses need not be published, but the law must be changed to protect persons whose non-criminal actions are now punishable by obsolete lass. And most of all, the public must know why John MacLennan is dead.

but

1 think my reasons for calling for an immediate inquiry into the MacLennan case are valid, not only to prove what or who casued his death, but also to find an explanation why all that i have stated was never brought as evidence in Court, or made available to the public. The Attorney-General has asked the public to trust him. In the light of what I have stated, and in the context of the MacLennan case, can the Attorney-General be said to have inspired, public trust ?

Since the Attorney-General is answerable only to His Excellency the Governor, I call upon the Governor to speak out on this matter.
