STATEMENT
I, Paula Anastasia Lannas, M.B., Ch.B., (Birmingham),
Honorary Registrar, Department of Forensic Medicine, Guy's
Hospital, London SE1 9RT, wish to state:

In February 1978 I carried out an autopsy and can vouch
for the following case.

An ambush point was discovered on a road and the relevant
vehicle had travelled 180m along that road before leaving
It had come to rest 130m past that point. The driver
was found dead in the driving seat. He had sustained a
gunshot wound of the chest which had disintegrated the heart.

a close range, by the powder deposits; and whilst the
vehicle was travelling slowly as established by the parallel
bullet tracks through the car.
As the road was curved and the vehicle was found in
top gear it would have been required to have been steered
and actively driven for a short period between 10-20 seconds
before the driver lost control and left the road.
