States:

I am Alastair Malcoda Cimino the officer in charge of

tbe Ballistics and l'irearns Identification Bureau, Folice leadquarters. I have a New Zealand Certificate of Science (Chem.) and have been employed as a Ballistics Officer since 1959 in New Zealand and Hong Kong.

2.

At about mid day on 15th January, 1980 I was in my office at Police leadquarters when I received a telephone call from a person I believe was at DCCC/Kowloo11. He informed me that Inspector- John HucLennan had committed suicide by shooting in Flat 4105 liomantin Service Flats, 19 Homantin Will Road, and he requested that I attend the scene.

3.

I and Chief Inspector 1.C. Nicoll proceeded to the scene and when we arrived at Honantin I saw a number of Folice vehicles and an ambulance. As we alighted from our vehicle the ambulsuce departed.

3.

We then went to Flat 410-B and thero. 1 was met outside the flat by Hr. Trottman. At this time there vere three or four Police officers in the corridor. Mr. Trottman briefed me and caid that Special Investigation Unit had gone to the flat earlier in the morning to execute a search warrant. Cn finding the doors locked and bolted they had broken in to the flat and had found MacLennan lying in his bedroom apparently dead from gun shot wounds.

4.

He then took me into the flat with Mr. Nicoll. We went into the bedroom, and saw Dr. MONG and Dr. VIP together with a third person whom I assume to have been their assistant. To the best of my memory there was no other person, except the six persons mentioned, in the flet at this time. As far as I am aware there were no personnel from SIU at the scene when I arrived.

5.

The body in the bedroom was on the far side of the bed and the doctors had moved come of the clothing and were turning the body backwards and forwards on the floor appearing to examine bullet entry and exit holes.

16.

This form may be used to record reports (a) taken while Report Book is not available, (b) of persons unable to come to station and (c) of incidents occurring outside station area.
