Dilatation of the anus occurs naturally as rigor mortis passes off and where the anus is being stretched as shown in the album of photographs by two different people, three days after death the dilatation is of no significance. No fissures, scarring or haemorrholds are visible and the loss of folds occurs with stretching as applied in the photograph. As there may be considerable variation in the anal canals of different individuals It would be most unwise to state that signs of buggery are present. However negative findings do not preclude buggery.
