Entry of aliens (including aliens of Chinese race, but excluding persons from China, Macau and Taiwan)

for residence in Hong Kong

Annex C

Conditions under which aliens (including aliens of Chinese race, but excluding Chinese persons from China, Macao and Taiwan) may be

permitted to enter Hong Kong for residence are as follows:

(a) No security objection and no known record of serious

crime; and

(b)

(c)

no likelihood of becoming a burden on the Colony; and

substantial links with the Colony through family

already resident in Hong Kong, prior personal residence in Hong Kong, or close business connections existing

with Hong Kong; or

(d) husbands or wives over 50 joining wives or husbands

already resident in the Colony; or

(e) husbands and wives, where one is over 50, joining natural sons or daughters already resident in the

Colony; or

(f) widowers over 50 or widows of any age joining their

nearest or only surviving relatives already resident in the Colony; or

(g) possession of a special skill, knowledge or experience

of value to and not readily available in Hong Kong; or

(h)

the Director of Immigration is satisfied that the

applicant will make a substantial contribution to the

economy of the Colony;

provided that any person in this category who is over 60 and of Chinese race, together with a spouse of whatever age, will be permitted to enter, except from China, Macao or Taiwan, without the need to satisfy any of the

conditions in (c) to (f) above.
