7. The group claimed that their reasons for seeking to leave China were that their accommodation was poor, and they were persistently cheated in various transactions by the local Chinese populace, who were given better jobs than the Vietnamese Chinese.

Some members of the group commented that there were now only a few persons in Pingsha who were engaged in trying to organise an unauthorised departure. (no details).

Two photographs of the small junk used by the group are attached. The damage to the stern was reportedly caused by rough seas. It sank shortly after arrival in Hong Kong.
