with a total of 254 persons. He had boen one of the organisers of these two groups, and was subsequently repatriated to China.

Source arranged with FANG (who did not accompany the group) to steer the sailing junk to Macau. He was not required to pay a fare, whereas the other nine passengers each paid RMB 130 to FANG.

The boat departed at 2200 hours on 26th March from Dawu, entering the sea at Yamen (1509/7024), and anchoring at Nanshui Dao (0589/3055) for one day to shelter from strong winds. They spent most of this time in the custody of local militia who had arrested them when they went ashore to look for food, but released them when satisfied they were Vietnamese Chinese who and not Chinese illegal emigrants.

Reaching Macau on 1st April, the group sank their boat near Taipa bridge. They used a hammer to make a hole in the bull. They were then housed by the Macau authorities at Macau Dockyard, where they pretended not to understand Chinese. The Macau police only questioned them casually.

However, the following day, 2nd April 1981, they were placed on a sailing junk with 38 Vietnamese refugees and directed to Hong Kong, arriving the same day.
