On 25th May 1981, a wooden, single masted sailing junk, sized 12 m x 3 m arrived in Hong Kong with a total of 105 passengers on board.

2.

This group comprised 104 ethnic Chinese who had emigrated to China from Northern Vietnam in 1978, and one Chinese illegal immigrant. The ethnic Chinese from Vietnam had all been resettled in Yingde (5391/1795) County, Guangdong Province.

3.

The group had all paid an escape syndicate in Pingsha (1627/3097) to organise their departure from China, and had originally intended to land at Macau. However, they were redirected by Macau authorities to Hong Kong. Two members of the group were interviewed, and the interview reports are attached. Information relating to an escape syndicate in Pingsha, details of the Yingde area and on treatment of ethnic Chinese resettled from Vietnam was obtained.
