Within this period 849 documents were recorded, covering 1156 travellers. The great majority were valid for return of the 87 single journey permits recorded in this period, 16 were issued in Guangzhou; 60 were issued in places in Guangdong Province other than Guangzhou; 3 in Guizhou, 2 in Sichuan; 1 in Nei Mongol; 3 in Awhui; 1 in Shandong and 1 in Hebei. Permits were issued for varying periods of validity (in the case of single journey permits the period refers to the time within which the permit had to be used). Of the 849 :-
