Mr Jones. I will be submitting a draft reply to the letter next week
after the third reading debate but you should be aware of Mr Jones'
comments on the draft. The first is that the same objections apply
to the statement 'That the holder is British' as to one that his
nationality status is UK or British Nationality in his passport.- third
I sentence of paragraph 3 of the draft reply. We therefore suggest that
this sentence should read 'That the holder is entitled to protection and
assistance from British Consulates and Embassies will be clearly
indicated by the title 'British Passport' and the description 'Citizen
of the British Dependent Territories'.
fourth?
8.
Mr Jones also suggests that the word 'legal' in the third line
of the third paragraph of the draft reply needs to be changed to
'practical'. This is because a new Act must have some legal effect
but it will not in this case have any practical one. I agree with
Mr Jones' suggestions and will incorporate them in my submission.
