ANNEX A
NATIONALITY BILL: SUMMARY OF HONG KONG'S REQUESTS
1.
Preserve the existing entitlement for a Citizen of the United
Kingdom and Colonies (CUKC) to acquire the right of abode in the UK
after five years residence here.
2. Hong Kong CUKCs to be given the title British Citizens (Hong Kong)
rather than CBDT.
3. Retain the existing entitlement for Hong Kong CUKC women married
to British men to be registered as British citizens.
4.
Citizens of British Dependent Territories generally, and particu-
larly those whose conduct or activity has been beneficial to the UK
or a dependency, to be given some preference for naturalisation over
aliens, at the Home Secretary's discretion.
5.
Unofficials and officials in Crown Service to be able to acquire
British citizenship either by naturalisation or registration and such
service to count towards residential qualification.
