Thank you for your letter of 26 February about the Nationality
As I said when we met, I am very much aware of the concern Crown Servants in Hong Kong have about their position should a difficult situation arise. Representatives of Hong Kong have already put the point to me and I understand that the Governor may wish to see me in a week or so's time. I thought, however, I should write at once to say that when we met I do not think I undertook to make amendments to the Bill. I undertook to look very carefully at proposals for amendments designed to meet these concerns, and I will, of course, do that with the scheme you suggest. I will let you know our conclusions in due course.
