Add after clause 16 the following new clause
"Acquisition by spouses.
16A. (1) Subject to subsection (2),
a person who, at the date of application,
is married to a citizen of the British
Dependent Territories or who, but for
the death of that citizen would have
been so married, shall be entitled, on
application, to be registered as a
citizen of the British Dependent
Territories, whether or not he or she
is of full age or capacity.
(2) A person who has renounced or
has been deprived of citizenship of the
British Dependent Territories under this
Act or who has renounced or has been
deprived of citizenship of the United
Kingdom and Colonies under the 1948 Act
shall not be entitled to be registered
as a citizen of the British Dependent
Territories under this section but may
be so registered with the approval of
the Secretary of State.
