Proposed amendments to British Nationality Bill 1981
to permit citizens of the British Dependent Territories to register as British citizens
Insert after clause 3 the following new clause
"Acquisition by registra- tion:
citizens of the British De pendent Territories.
3A.
A citizen of the British Dependent
Territories shall be entitled, on an
application for his registration as a British
citizen, to be so registered if the Secretary
of State is satisfied that the applicant
fulfils the requirements of paragraph 3
of Schedule 1.
Conse- quential
amendments
to Schedule 1.
Schedule 1 is amended
A
a) by deleting the heading and substituting the
following
"REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION OR NATURALISATION"
and
(b) Page 42, by deleting line 24 and substituting
"Registration or naturalisation as a British
citizen under section 3A or 4(2)";
(c) Page 42, line 25 by inserting after "requirements
for the following
"registration or";
(d) Page 42, line 26 by inserting before "4(2)" the following -
