period preceding the renewal date. The stations may subsequently make representations to vary some of the conditions, but it is not expected that these efforts will be sustained. As stated in paragraph 12 above, Government's intention to renew the licences will be announced in May or June next year. In October, conditional upon the Television Advisory Board's confirmation that the licensees' performance has remained satisfactory in the period since submission of the Board's report, formal approval for the renewal of the licences will be sought from the Executive Council. The draft licences and legislative amendments will be submitted to the Council for approval at the same time. The amendments will be laid before the Legislative Council in November.
