Proposed entry qualification requirements for kindergarten teachers' courses
I. 12-week part-time training course for qualified kindergarten assistants
The entry requirements are as follows:
(a)
(b)
a full-time teacher in a registered kindergarten who has attained the age of 18; and
holder of the Hong Kong Certificate of Education or its equivalent or a Form III leaver with a minimum of 1 year's teaching experience in a registered kindergarten or a trained teacher.
A trained teacher (i.e. a graduate of the Colleges of Education or a university graduate with a diploma in education or their equivalent) on completion of this training course and one year post-course experience in a registered kindergarten will automatically become a "qualified kindergarten teacher".
II.2-year part-time training course for qualified kindergarten teachers
The entry requirements are as follows:
The applicant must be
(a) a full-time teacher in a registered kindergarten; and
(b)
holder of the Hong Kong Certificate of Education with 2 passes in Grade E or above or its equivalent with a minimum of 2 years' teaching experience in a school registered under the Education Ordinance.
An outstanding qualified kindergarten assistant who has taught for 4 years in a registered kindergarten may apply for entry into the second year of the course and will also be eligible for the "qualified kindergarten teacher" status on successful completion of the course.
