Development of Hong Kong Principles
It is in the nature of the operating agreement between CNAA and UPGC that a more Hong Kong orientated method
of validating these courses may develop over a period of time, and that the CNAA/UPGC agreement could lapse and be overtaken by new machinery. In the interim period CNAA will at any time be receptive to the emergence of a set of Hong Kong principles having the endorsement of UPGC.
Basis of Validation
It is not considered possible in this developing situation to set down a single statement concerning standards. CNAA will report to UPGC on the quality of each course against the following factors :
(a) Any steps which would need to be taken to
ensure that each course attained and
continued to attain an academic level at least comparable to that of courses approved by CNAA in the U.K. The standards of CNAA degrees in the UK which, while now largely 'self calibrating', are tied by Charter to the Standards of UK university degrees.
In the same way, the standards and particular characteristics of degree courses in the two H.K. Universities shall be taken into
account so far as CNAA has these drawn to
its attention, or has facilities made available to it by the courtesy of those institutions to establish such character-
istics.
