and conditions, can be most valuable, but must be regularly

consulted if it is to be successful.

School of Law

In the coming triennium the School will have to cope with the expansion of student intake to 80, for which a total

staff increase of 8 has been planned. The Committee welcomes the development of admitting within this intake a limited number of persons in full-time legal or law-related employment

In this way the University will be responding to the growth of interest in Hong Kong in music and the performing arts, and be contributing directly to improvement of the quality of life in Hong Kong.

Computing Science

The Committee has been aware for some time of the

problems which the University of Hong Kong has had in establishing a Department of Computer Science, and in filling a chair in that discipline. Present arrangements provide for teaching in this area to be carried out by the Computer Centre, which has the
