Philosophy and Aims
HKP Factual
to prepare graduates to enter HK Industry
to provide a comprehensive foundation in science work with laboratory and workshop training.
The programme is clearly aimed towards provision of higher technician training/education for
industry/commerce. There is a strong emphasis upon training in basic practical skills and broad awareness
of modern technology. Students divide almost equally in their wish to proceed to industry or to careers in trading.
Withdrawal from the programme appears to divide into early withdrawals of poorer students (10%) and transfer to other programmes, (usually at University), after success in examinations. The overall programme failure rate is largely unknown, as failed students proceed at a slower rate.
An external examiner is involved with Year 3 only, with an intention for him to visit once every three years.
