I am writing belatedly, on my return from leave, to thank you for your assistance in connection with Karl Stumpf's calls in Bonn on 22nd April. I have spoken to Dr. Stumpf on his return, and he asked me to say how grateful he was to you both for your assistance in general and also for the excellent lunch.
He has suggested that I should pass on to you a
copy of his report on his visit, and this is accordingly attached. I fear that nothing really new came out of his discussions, but no doubt it helped to keep up the pressure. I also attach an extract from his covering letter to Alan Scott, a copy of which I have shown to Iain Orr. You will note that Dr. Stumpf would like to see us adopting a more interventionist posture!
