respect of runway orientation, and climb 'out' routes of the two airports at Chek Lap Kok and Po On co that a concerted plan can be evolved if all three airports are to be accommodated.

Now that Hong Kong have provided plans for Chek Lap Kok, CAMC plans for Fo On, and the plans for Kacau must be given further consideration. The main problem is airspace usage for instance, in the event of missed approach.
(9) The question of extension of controlled airspace north and west of the existing Hong Kong controlled airspace, whether by Hong Kong, Canton or by delegated control is not considered insurmountable but a
final decision must await consideration of the three airports together.
Mr. Qian then asked come detailed questions in respect of number of parking bays, passenger handling capacity, traffic demand, etc. and location of navaids.

On Mr. Li's first three points, Mr. Million agreed that further study was necessary and proposed a second meeting to be held around September of this year, for which we would invite CAAC to Hong Kong, or which could take place in Canton if this would be more convenient. Hr. Li stressed the prerequisite of political and diplomatic clearance prior to consideration, in any significant depth of the. technical details. He considered it necessary for his principals in Feking to be first eppraised of the contents of the days presentation and then for the political and diplomatic principles to be resolved at Government level.

On the remaining points in Mr. Li's comments, Mr. Oliver answered that in respect of the extension of controlled airspace he would convey CAMC's views to the Hong Kong authorities. In respect of Macau, Hong Kong CAD were aware of the work to be carried out but not in detail; our initial reaction was to wonder whether there was sufficient traffic demand in the area to justify the capacity to be offered by two major airports. When Macau's idebo became clear we could possibly approach them for discussions on a co-operative solution for our joint need for airport facilitics. In respect of CC's plans
