NOTE FOR EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
MASS TRANSIT RAILWAY ISLAND LINE, TRIANGULAR SITE, 170-188 DES VOEUX ROAD, CENTRAL
On the 14th July 1981 Members considered memorandum XCC(81)84 (Annexed). The record of this Council's discussion on the memorandum reads as follows:-
The Secretary for the Environment reported to the Council that, since the memorandum had been drafted, the Mass Transit Railway Corporation and the preferred developer had reached agreement with four of the six owners to purchase their lots, and that a fifth owner had indicated his willingness to sell. The Council noted that it might not now be necessary to consider resumption of the land and that the Secretary for the Environment would report further in due course.

In the last few weeks negotiations have been taking place between the Mass Transit Railway Corporation (MTRC) and the owners of the private land within the triangular site at 170-188 Des Voeux Road Centra. Al1 the owners, bar one, have now agreed to enter into an arrangement with MTRC for the redevelopment of the site. There will therefore be no need to resume their land. If the other owner does not reach an agreement with the MTRC it is intended that resumption of his land should be ordered under delegated powers and that one month's notice of the resumption should be published in the Gazette and posted on the land on 25th September 1981.
