The site has an area of 99.7 square metres or thereabouts and is shown coloured pink on the plan at Annex C. The site is zoned for Residential (Zone 1) development on the approved Tai Kok Tsui Outline Zoning Plan No. LK 3/11 and was previously occupied by a four-storey pre-war building.

The design of the Mass Transit Station at this location required the removal of all verandahs on the Cheung Sha Wan Road and Kweilin Street frontages. These verandahs formed a very substantial portion of the building and in consequence it was estimated that substantial savings could be effected by total demolition rather than demolishing verandahs only and reinstating external walls. It was also apparent that the remaining structure would require constant monitoring so that any potential danger caused by the Mass Transit Railway construction works could be immediately identified.

In addition Housing Department advised that some families were likely to be split up as only those actually occupying the verandah areas were eligible for rehousing. This was felt to be completely undesirable.

The property was surrendered to the Crown by a Deed of Surrender executed on 2nd June 1978. The total acquisition cost incurred by Government amounted to $1,124,572.74.
