that there was no indication that the Chinese had reached any
decisions, but they were obviously aware that the repayment period
on this project would extend beyond 1997, and that it would only
be self-sufficient in foreign exchange provided that the Hong Kong
dollar remained a convertoble foreign currency.
Finally, Mr Lippitt offered to give a presentation to Whitehall
to dispel any lingering doubts there might be on his company's
ability to build a high-speed 900 MW set.
