GUANGDONG NUCLEAR PROJECT
You will have seen BTC telno 29 to the FCO in which Mr March has repeated his earlier proposal that Mr Manzie should arrange to be in Canton for Mr Parkinson's discussions on the Guangdong nuclear project next month.

He
I have been in touch with Mr Manzie about this today. has hitherto been reluctant to involve himself in Mr Parkinson's visit because it would prolong his absence from London (he leaves for Hong Kong on 2 March). But after discussion with Mr Dick (DOT), and subject to getting Sir P Carey's approval, he is now prepared to do so. He envisages going to Canton with Sir L Kadoorie on 18 or 19 March and then joining Mr Parkinson for his talks in Canton on 20 or 21 March. I am sure this will be helpful.
Mr Manzie does not plan to send a telegram about this since he will be seeing all concerned in Hong Kong next week.
