A more modest proposal has also been made by the Chinese authorities for the electrification of the railway between Lo Wu and Shenzhen. The authorities are presently considering a scheme devised by the Hong Kong developer Gordon Wu (Hopewell Holdings Ltd.) for the construction of a rail spur from Lo Wu to a new station in the heart of Shenzhen (see also "Shenzhen:Progress Report" paragraph 16). The extension of the electrified line even for 9 kms. into Shenzhen will be expensive and is at present the subject of a planned feasibility study (the attached map provided by Wu, indicates the approximate location of the proposed new railway station: Annex C).
