In addition to the visit of a Taiwan team to take part
in a handball tournament in Hong Kong in April (para 19 February
1981 Report) the NCNA is engineering similar subsequent events
in which teams from China and Taiwan will compete at basketball,
athletics and table tennis. If these materialise, they will be
the first occasions on which teams from China and Taiwan will
have met in the same competition in Hong Kong.

Communist influence and activities in the general sporting
world continue: basketball and judo teams have been invited to
compete in China later this year, the communist controlled Hong
Kong Table Tennis Association is to send a team to the World
Championships in Yugoslavia, and the Canoe Union (also communist
controlled) has held a dinner at which senior NCNA officials were
the guests of honour.
