Visits
A group of officials from the Guangdong/Guangzhou Public Security Bureau (PSB), led by the Deputy Divisional Director of the Guangdong PSB, WANG Zailin, visited Hong Kong for a week at their own request. They were specifically interested in a counterfeiting syndicate operating on both sides of the border and more broadly concerned with the possibility of co-operation over criminal investigation generally. A full programme, including discussions and visits to various Police
establishments, was arranged for them at short notice. The visitors seemed much impressed by the advanced methods and techniques they were shown. A request for further liaison and possible collaboration may follow.
2.
The third of the regular monthly cross border meetings between Hong Kong and Guangdong officials (on this occasion all from Shenzhen) was held on 15 September. The discussions covered a range of topics connected with movement and security in the border areas.
3.
A group of Chinese Fisheries Research scientists visited Hong Kong to exchange views and examine possibilities of co-operation with the staff of the Agriculture & Fisheries Department. The group was led by the Deputy Director of the South China Sea Fisheries Institute and arrived in a modern fisheries vessel. which remained in the harbour for the duration of the 11-day visit.
