We have checked the place-name pinyin of eight insets of
Chinese cities of your World Atlas, which you mail to us in June
this year.
Corrections and suggestions have directly put on the static
copy, including:
1. Obsolete names changed into new ones,
2. Misspellings corrected,
3. Common nouns of rivers and lakes suggested to be identi-
cally treated, all added. or omitted; to the rivers lacking common
nouns, words "he" or "jiang" having been shown for your conside- ·
ration.
4. Place-names not found on current maps,better to be can-
celed.
5. Our way of lettering of Xianggang (Hongkong) and Aomen
(Macao) and their political status quo in parentheses are shown.
And place-names in Xianggang area are suggested to be written in use of Chinese phonetic alphabets, rather than according to local
