Survey on native villagers in NT (Tai Po, Sheung Shui, Yuen Long)
Although the majority of the 5 million people in HK are Chinese and most of them wish to settle down here permanently, only those villagers scattering in MT villages (in northern NT- Tai Po, Sheung Shui, Yuen Long) are traditional' residents, while the others are only immigrants from other places.

The average age of the interviewees was above 35 because most of the young NT villagers had either gone abroad or to urban districts to earn their living.
The villagers in general thought they could easily adapt to "Chinese village" living style as they were grown up in similar environment. the old villagers, although they were receiving old age allowance, could not make ends met due to inflation.

According to the chairman, Lau Wong-fat, results of our survey and the actual situation meme monn er less 24 rame. He lained that majority of the villagers did not worry about the problem of 1997 and some of them had not even heard about it.
