According to Government Information Services statistics, a total of 397,167 immigrants from China have obtained.permission to stay here legally in the past ten years (1971 May 1981). The arrival of such a large group has affected significantly the housing, social welfare and law and order situation in HK. And the HK Government has amended its policies to cope with the changes.

Though many of these people have already obtained a "black seal" ID cards, the majority are still holding "green seal" ID cards, Therefore, we treated all the interviewees as "green seal" men.

About. 63.3% of the interviewees were unhappy with China's political system. (3:3% did not like her economic system, while the rest were. of the hard life' in the country.) For those who wished HK to be handed back to China, some considered the law and order here too poor and the punishment for criminals too lenient, and they believed the situation would wo zuprovou 20 II Dudumu China's economic zone.
