You asked whether we had had anything from Hong Kong on the following:
1.
a)
the contingency paper on the future of Hong Kong;
b)
the Chinese Visa Office in Hong Kong;
Х
c)
2.
the problem of visas for Chinese transitting Hong Kong.
We have heard nothing so far from Hong Kong on any of these subjects
and Mr Clift intends to discuss them with the Political Adviser when he
is in Hong Kong the week after next. However, as regards (a), we have
received from Dr Wilson the annex on Macao and we ourselves have
drafted the annex on Taiwan. Mr Clift is taking to Hong Kong a checklist
of topics for the contingency paper which he intends to discuss with
Mr Donald before he goes.
