Hong Kong New Airport

5.

Mr Fung recalled that he had been involved in earlier discussions with the Chinese on a possible

airport on the Chinese side of the border. He had

mentioned this to the Governor. He said that he had

now been approached again by the 'Guangdong authorities' (unspecified). They were still interested in an airport at Shumchun. However it did not appear that they had asked him to make a specific approach to anyone in the Hong Kong Government.
