and in 1979 accounted for some 14% of total UK imports from Hong Kong.
5. The share of Hong Kong by the principal product groups is shown in Annex D. On the import side, clothing from Hong Kong accounted for 26% of total UK imports in 1979, a proportion which has fallen in recent years. In 1975 for example Hong Kong supplied one third of all UK's clothing imports. Hong Kong's share of other imports is small - she is no longer an important supplier of footwear while her imports of textiles have accounted for less than 4% of total UK imports in recent years. At the same time Hong Kong's share of the UK's total imports for telecommunications and recording equipment has grown steadily - from 3.3% in 1977 to over 6% in 1979.
