VISIT OF GOVERNOR OF HONG KONG TO THE UK
1. Sir M MacLehose will be in the UK from mid-June to mid-August for
an operation on his other hip (the last operation took place in
December 1979).

His timetable is as follows:

Arrive London
Monday 22 June
Tuesday 23 June

Tuesday 30 June
20-27 August
Available for discussions in the FCO

Operation followed by prolonged convalescence
Return to Hong Kong depending on advice of
Surgeons.
3. Sir Murray would welcome an opportunity for a short discussion with
the Secretary of State, if possible on 22 June. Mr Lyne has pencilled
this in, but it is subject to the Secretary of State's plans for a
Ministerial meeting in Luxembourg. This will have to be confirmed later.
The Governor would also welcome an opportunity to see Mr Donald and the
Department.

When the Secretary of State's plans are clearer and depending on your
arrangements, I will telegraph the Governor with times of appointments.
